55 nautical miles

We woke up early to catch the train. Of course, we ended up making the later time slot. We said goodbye to the Smiths and told them to visit us in Richmond and Deltaville. Then we got on the train and went back to New London. My dad ran ahead to get the dinghy while we walked the bags back to the city dock. When we got to the boat we cast off immediately. The first hour or two of the sail was nice, but soon it started raining. The winds built and with that, the waves. I ended up getting sick. When the rain stopped we were about 5 miles away from Port Jefferson. We also saw a full rainbow! When we got in the harbor we picked up a mooring and rode the launch to town. First, we got some really good ice cream. Then we got a few groceries. When we got back to the boat we ate dinner then went to bed.
