85 nautical miles

We left pretty late today. The wind was coming out the north (of course!) so we had to beat straight into it. Dad ate the sandwich I made him out of a plastic bag so it didn't get wet! The conditions got much better once we were near a lee shore. We made it under the first bridge without a problem and stopped in at the Coinjock Marina for fuel. We also made dad his birthday treat, bread pudding. We ate on our way across the VA border!! Running Tide made it under the Pungo Ferry bridge and we tried to anchor. It got too shallow, so we went farther. We tried different little spots on the way north, but none worked. So we ended up making it to Great Bridge and docking right before the lock. It was too late to watch the movie we had picked out, so we went to bed. Happy 42 birthday dad!!!

I can't believe this is our last full day and night on the boat during the Garrett Family Sabbatical:(
