35 nautical miles

We had an early start today! My mom drove the rental car to Savannah while we sailed there. We were already underway when my dad woke us up. It was only 6 am, but he didn't want us to get seasick. When I came topside, Clarke and Cyrus were wrapped up in their blankets to escape the cold temperature and breeze.

We had left the dock a little later than planned this morning and had to push our engine much faster than normal to make the 8 am opening of the 'crazy bridge'. By some miracle, we made the opening and were docked at Hinckley Yacht Services by 8:30 am. Clarke, Cyrus, and I put on the sail and dinghy covers before Mom arrived.

By 1 pm, the boat was fully unpacked and ready to be hauled for the winter. Thirty minutes later we were on our way to Richmond. We stopped for dinner at Panera along the way and arrived at our house at 9:30 pm.

Nealy and Marley were waiting for us inside. It was a nice surprise to see them! We also checked out our new porch furniture that arrived while we were gone. After saying goodnight to Nealy, we crawled in bed. Today was a long day!

PS: This is the last post until we go skiing in January! Sec 2 of our journey has been incredible, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming parts!
