50 nautical miles

We woke up late today and had to rush to get ready for our aquarium reservations at 9 am. We met the O'Connors in the grass outside the aquarium. They just got two new baby otters! Sadly, they weren't out at that time. We could see the Charleston Race Week regattas going on outside. At 10 am our reservation ended so we went to get sandwiches. We didn't didn't eat our's right then cause we were taking my dad's diving friend, Allen Rowe, and 3 of his boys out for a sail at lunch. We said goodbye to the O'Connors and started walking back to the boat (it wasn't very far). I hope I can come down soon to help Aunt Liz out!

When we got back to the boat Cyrus went to meet the Rowes while my dad and I trip planned for getting to Deltaville and Clarke and Mom got ready to leave the dock. We left the dock soon after they arrived. The sail was fun, and the boys had fun pretending we were going to hit the boats racing while we were sailing across their course.

The docking was windier, but it went fine. It was leaving the dock that wasn't. After the Rowes got off the boat around 2:30 pm we immediatly tried to leave the dock. But the wind pinned us tot he dock. We tried multiple different tactics but none worked. Eventually we called a dock hand and asked Ranger if they could use their dinghy to pull our bow out. When the dock hand came he suggested we get extra fenders at the bow and run a spring back to pivit on the bow and get us in line with the wind, where we could then back out off the dock. We Ranger and the boat to our stern lent us a few fenders to use. When we tried it we were able to get off the dock! Then we started for the main channel.

Along the way dad and I trip planned. We ended up deciding to take the ICW to Georgetown Inlet, go out in the ocean in the very early morning to Southport and get an undated wind forcast to decide what to do next. It got dark after a little while so I got the searchlight out and helped Clarke navigate. Mom and Cyrus went to bed. We were anchored in Georgetown Inlet by 10:15 pm.
