15 nautical miles

We started sailing for Monhegan around 9 am. Monhegan is an island off the coast known for beautiful hiking. The sail was pleasant, although there were huge swells compared to the wind. We were moored by noon and had lunch on the boat before rowing into the island. We did a 4.5 mile hike that ran all the way around the coast of the island. The entire hike was breathtaking! The trail had lots of vistas and the terrain kept us on our toes. We went from rock climbing or walking in a forest with towering pines to standing on a cliff or running across a rocky beach. When we got back on the boat everyone was exhausted, so we cast off immediately. We hit a little squall but the boat sailed smoothly and we almost hit 9 knots under just sail power! After anchoring in Bremen we had dinner and went to bed early. Everyone was tired!
