When I came out of my room the Prestons were just boarding our boat. Oops, I may have slept a little too late! We untied quickly and steered through the channel, fighting 2 knots of current. Once out of the channel we started to raise the sail, but got delayed when a track broke and had to be switched out. After a speedy repair, we raised the sail and turned the engine off. We went 7 knots under just sail power!

Clarke and I rode in the dinghy with one of their daughters, Isabella, for about half an hour. We had fun bouncing up and down in the waves. She loved it too! When we came in we got some lunch before dropping the Prestons off at a marina near their house in Stonington. Then we started for Shelter Island.

We anchored in a small harbor only 5 minutes away from Greenport. After dinner, we rode into the yacht club. Shelter Island is a cute and surprisingly crowded island. I guess that's to be expected in New York! After walking around we dinghied back to to the boat and went to bed. I think Clarke had a pretty good birthday!

*We didn't forget to celebrate Clarke's bday, we just did it on a different day!
