35 nautical miles

We headed over to Greenport around 8 am to meet Ann, Aaron, and Lucy Lammer, our cousins. They chatted with my parents for about an hour before we took them on a quick dinghy ride and said goodbye. I'm sad the visit was so short! By the time they left, it was already 11 am, so we got underway quickly.

It was Labor Day, so there were a lot of boats out. When we were going through a tight channel between 2 islands heading into the sound, there were some HUGE waves due to currents colliding with one another. We got through quickly without getting off course too much and headed for the Thimble Islands.

When we were about a 1/4 of a mile away from the islands we decided to grab a mooring at Sachems Head Yacht Club for the night. Once moored we walked around the neighborhoods nearby before watching a movie on the boat.
