15 nautical miles, 2 miles hiking

I woke up to the boat rocking and rolling in 6ft swells from the remnants of hurricane Laura. We were already underway. When I came topside my family was putting the sail up. An hour later we arrived in Frenchboro Harbor and picked up a mooring. After we were tied on, we dinghied in to Lunt's Deli. It's an adorable lunch stand on a dock and it has crazy good food! We got a burrito and cookie, ate them on the dock and they were AMAZING! Once we finished eating we started our hike around the island. The was pretty and it was neat to explore a new place. When we got back to Lunt’s we saw they had extra food laid on picnic tables. They had peanut butter, lemons, random sodas, butter and lots more. We bought a huge piece of steak, some fruit, and ice cream cones.

Once on the boat we decided to stay the night at Frenchboro because of big winds. It was gusting over 30 knots from the direction we needed to go! The only downside is that we'll have a longer sail tomorrow and less time for hiking.

My dad and I took the boys and my mom into land before moving the boat to a different mooring. The mooring we were on was very exposed to the strong winds, and it would’ve been an uncomfortable night if we stayed there. Dad and I had quite an adventure! While I was letting us off the mooring the dinghy came untied. We only realized once we were off the mooring and I looked back to see the dinghy at least a hundred feet away heading towards shore. Since the wind was blowing hard it drifted quickly. We were concerned that we would run aground before we could reach it and the dinghy would go crashing into the rocks. On our second attempt we caught it. We got out of there quick so that we didn’t hit the ground. Thank goodness we got it! Once tied to the new mooring we rode in to get everyone else for dinner. I can't wait to go to The Basin tomorrow!
