70 nautical miles

When I came topside we were past Boston. The swells had FINALLY calmed down to 3-4 ft. We were an hour ahead of schedule and making good time despite the lack of wind. We did schoolwork during the sail and arrived at the Cape Cod Canal in no time. The currents were strong in the Canal- we were going 10 knots over land and only 6 knots over the water (meaning there were 4 knots of current)!

When we came out of the canal in Buzzards Bay, a huge seabreeze hit us from our bow. The boys had lots of fun standing on the bow while we went over the very steep 4ft waves. They got soaking wet and even I got wet sitting at the helm!

When we got to Marion we picked up a mooring and dinghied in to meet the Johnsons. Lulu met us at the club and we walked back to her house (Lulu is 13 and her younger brother, Hunter, is 10). Then all the kids went on a bike ride around town. Lulu is a very good tour guide and showed us all the spots in town.

When we got back to their house we played in the basement until the pizza came. After dinner, we walked to the ice cream shop to get some dessert. Once we finished our treats and walked back, we played infection. A little later the parents joined in and we switched to playing sardines. After a few rounds, we said goodnight and walked back to the boat. It was so fun to see the Johnsons again!
