50 nautical miles

We pulled anchor around 9 am. The day was cold and windy, just like yesterday. At least today was sunny! We planned on sailing to Jekyll Island today. Jekyll Island is near a resort we will possibly go to for my grandma's birthday.

When we were near Sapelo Island we passed by an adorable beach, so we anchored and went ashore. The island was pretty but there was manure everywhere. As we explored the island, we noticed cows close by... explains the manure and odd tracks in the sand! After exploring the woods, we went back to the beach. As we were playing, we saw a big puff hit the boat causing the anchor to drag, so we rushed back. We were underway again by 1:30 pm.

We ended up anchoring by Saint Simons Island because we didn't have time to reach Jekyll before sunset. By 4:45 pm we were on land, exploring. The park near the dock was beautiful, having towering live oaks with Spanish moss and ferns hanging off their branches. We started running inland. We probably looked pretty funny: a family running along the road in life jackets, crocs, bathing suits, hats, and sunglasses! Plus, Clarke had no dry pants so he had to squeeze into Cyrus's. It looked like he had leggings on! After running about a mile, we arrived at a McDonalds. My dad stopped to get ice cream. By the time we finished eating, it was dark. With full stomachs, we ran back to the dinghy.

While coming to land earlier this afternoon, we had decided to row instead of bringing the motor- a mistake since we now had to row back to the boat against a strong current. Dad had to row hard to get us to the boat. After successfully reaching the boat, we had dinner and went to bed.
