We were leaving for the change of command ceremony by 8:30 am. It was for my dad's good friend and crew from the USNA sailing team. We went to his change of command 2 years ago in Norfolk. He just happened to be in Groton right now, so the timing was perfect! We rode to the base and then were taken to the submarine. We waited until it started. The ceremony was kind of long, and kind of boring, but we knew there'd be cake and a tour of the sub after. When it finished we got a slice of cake and then went on the sub. We waited in the crew's mess until someone came to give us a tour. The sub was basically identical to the sub that my dad was on, so he knew where/what everything was. When the tour ended we went back up and started walking back off base (We stopped for lunch at subway along the way). Then we got an Uber and rode to the Eagle. It's an old (still commissioned) coast guard sailing ship, but they have free tours during the day. We walked around the decks. It was cool to see the ship and learn about it. We got back to the boat around 2 pm. My parents started planning for the upcoming days, and we had to take Hurricane Henri into effect. Eventually, they came up with a plan (a FINAL plan. Our plan to escape the hurricane had changed so much I wasn't quite sure what was happening), and we all went to help. Mom, Cyrus, and Sofia got groceries while my dad, Clarke, and I got fuel and water. Then we all met back on the boat and my parents got ready to go to the ceremony dinner. Once they left we made dinner and started a movie. When the movie finished we got ready for bed. I stayed up to retrieve my parents when they got back. Then I went to bed.
