5 miles hiking

I woke up to hasty packing all around the boat. We were leaving to go backpacking for one night! Once had eaten breakfast I helped pack and close up the boat. Finally, around noon, we were ready to start hiking. We rode to the dinghy dock with our packs started our trek.

The trail we took to the campsite was incredibly steep. We climbed over 600 vertical feet per mile, if not more! Halfway through the trail we found out that the park wasn't allowing any backpacking, even with a permit. So naturally we camped out anyways. Clarke and Cyrus found this beautiful spot to stay the night. It was out of the way and secluded, and no one could see us (we hoped!). If you walked a little to the left of the campsite, you would see the most breathtaking veiw. We took pictures, but they failed to capture the real beauty of the scene.

My mom, Cyrus, and I stayed at the campsite while Clarke and my dad went to a small pond to fill waterbottles and explore. When they got back we ate dinner and went to bed. Sadly, no ice cream today!
