40 nautical miles

When I woke up we were on our way to Cat Island. Cyrus was sailing on Alisara. The wind was on our tail so we put the spinnaker up. It was awesome. We averaged 10 knots with no engine! Alisara asked us to take some photos with their spin up, so we swung by. We found out they had a fish on one of their rods! We guessed it was big cause it was slowing them down a lot. After getting a few photos we sailed ahead. A little while later they hailed us on the VHF saying we were having sailfish for dinner!

We anchored just off the Rolezz Beach Resort in southern Cat Island. Alisara came about an hour later. We tried rafting up but there were just a little too many waves so we anchored separately. We threw the sailfish carcass in the water. Nothing came, but we kept our eye out.

About an hour later a large shark came! It was at least 12ft long and had an enormous body. My dad looked at it underwater and said that the white had a very definitive line. It was at this time that Jess paddled back from her walk on shore. Halfway to the boat, Alice gave her a cry of warning. She started paddling as fast as she could. The shark became interested in this moving, floating object. It started to follow her. When she got to the boat she hopped up very quickly. The shark swung close enough that I think it touched the board! Then it lost interest.

It continued to circle the boats, but everyone went to shore anyways. I stayed back to finish my school work. That night we went to Alisara for dinner. We had the sailfish in a coconut, mango, lime curry. It was delicious! After eating we watched Indiana Jones on a projector screen. We went back to Running Tide around 11 pm.
